Dental Services & Procedures

Bentsen, Goodrich and Irvin DDS offer a variety of dental services that include restorative, cosmetic and preventative dentistry.

Restorative Dentistry that includes:

Dental Crowns: A dental crown is a tooth-shaped “cap” that is placed over a tooth.  Its function is to cover the tooth to restore its shape and size, strength, and improve its appearance. The crowns, when cemented into place, fully encase the entire visible portion of a tooth that lies at and above the gum line.

Dental Bridges: A dental bridge is a false tooth/teeth that “bridges” the gap between two teeth. A bridge is created by two or more dental crowns for the teeth on either side of the gap. Dental bridges can be supported by natural teeth or implants.

Partial Dentures: A partial denture or bridge is a removable piece that consists of replacement teeth.  It is attached to a pink or gum-colored plastic base which is often connected by metal framework that holds the denture in place in your mouth.  Partial dentures are used when one or more natural teeth remain in the upper and lower jaw.

Dentures: Dentures are removable appliances that can replace missing teeth and help restore your smile. Complete dentures can either be “conventional” or “immediate”. Replacement of your natural teeth due to gum disease, tooth decay or injury can help benefit your face and profile and your overall health.

Dental Fillings: A dental filling is a way to restore a tooth damaged by decay back to its normal function and shape. The dentist removes the decayed tooth material, cleans the affected area, and then fills the cleaned out cavity with a filling material.

Dental Implants: A dental implant is an artificial tooth root that a dentist places into your jaw to hold a replacement tooth or bridge. Dental implants are an ideal option for people in good general oral health who have lost a tooth or teeth due to periodontal disease, an injury, or some other reason.

Cosmetic Dentistry:

Invisalign: Invisalign clear aligners are clear, removable aligners that gradually move your teeth. Dr. Lauren Irvin is an invisalign certified provider. Invisalign is a series of aligners that help to straighten your teeth. It resembles the clear retainers that patients wear after completing orthodontic treatment, except they help to move teeth. In addition to the aligner, small tooth colored attachments are placed on certain teeth to aid in the movement of your teeth. These attachments are removed at the end of treatment. Invisalign is a great alternative to braces because of the ability to remove the aligners while eating and brushing. Typically the average treatment time is one year and checkups are every 4 to 6 weeks.

Dental Veneers: Dental veneers are very thin, custom-made shells of tooth-colored materials designed to cover the front surface of teeth to improve your appearance. These shells are bonded to the front of the teeth changing their color, shape, size, or length.

Dental Bonding: Bonding is the application of a tooth-colored composite resin (plastic) to repair a decayed, chipped, fractured, discolored tooth, to make teeth appear longer, and as a cosmetic alternative to amalgam fillings. Bonding can be done in a single visit to your dentist.

Teeth Whitening: TeethWhitening is a bleaching process that lightens discoloration of enamel and dentin.

Tres White Whitening Strips: These are disposable whitening strips loaded with two distinct gels: 1. a 10% hydrogen peroxide whitening gel for whitening teeth 2. a gingival barrier gel (pre-loaded along the gingival margin) for protecting the soft tissues. The two gels work together to provide the most innovative whitening process available.

Routine cleanings: Routine cleanings involved the removal of plaque and tartar build up on the teeth that cannot be removed by routine cleaning at home.  We recommend to come in and have preventative cleanings done once every 6 months.

Treatment of gum disease: This includes the removal of plaque and tartar build up during preventative routine cleanings.  With signs of gum disease, we may suggest cleanings more than twice a year or scaling and root planing.

Sealants: A dental sealant is a treatment to prevent tooth decay by acting as a barrier to prevent cavities.  Sealants protect areas that may be vulnerable to cavities by creating barrier for food and plaque to not go past.

Extractions including wisdom teeth: Tooth extraction or pulling teeth is a treatment option for those patients with dealing with a crowded mouth, infection or risk or infection.

Individualized oral hygiene instruction: A preventative approach to oral hygiene can keep your mouth and gums healthy.

Oral Cancer Screening: An oral cancer screening is an examination performed to look for cancerous or precancerous conditions in your mouth in order to identify any mouth cancer in its early stages.
